sv2evo Posted November 30, 2006 Posted November 30, 2006 Hit a curb this morning doing about 30, tyre blew, passenger curtain airbag went off together with the passenger side airbag that is embedded in the seat. Front airbags are fine and the seatbelt pretensioners didn't go off. Citroen just quoted £1200 which I can't really afford at the moment. What can I do? Can a specialist reset the ecu so that it does not come back with an airbag fault on the computer? Quote
kfk Posted November 30, 2006 Posted November 30, 2006 Unfortunately i believe the computor will need to be replaced along with the airbags to turn the light out. If you replace the detonated components the computer will have stored in its memory that it has been 'used' and for your safety requires replacement. Have you spoken to your insurance company to see if you could claim? just a thought. Quote
sv2evo Posted December 1, 2006 Author Posted December 1, 2006 Anyone know where the airbag ecu is located? Is it under the gearstick area as the xantias? Quote
sv2evo Posted December 2, 2006 Author Posted December 2, 2006 Sorted! To anyone interested, the airbag ecu is just infront of the gear lever. I replaced it, together with the two airbags and the sill impact sensor, plugged battery back in and hey presto, everything is perfect! No reset needed as the airbag ecu does no longer hold an error log. I found a fire damaged C5 in the scrappy and the whole lot cost me £180 and a day's work. Compared to the £1200 Citroen asked I think I did rather well. Quote
