:o Another recall. Replacing a control box under the steering wheel, something to do with the fog lights so they say. Estimated time 1 hour.

I may be completely thick :o but I've looked on the VOSA website and there is not a listing for a recall issued recently (not sure how often its updated), my C4's vin number doesn't tie in with any of the ranges quoted on thier site currently.

So does my car need to go to the dealers? <_< had the car from new since July 06. Seen other postings saying 'same as the other one' etc I'm now confused!

Any clarification much appriecated. :D

P.S any reference to my level of intelligence will be taken in good humour, honest :(

I also think we need to be careful shouting "Recall" on the forum as everyone panics and wonders "if its them".

Is there anyway we can set up a sticky with an up to date listing of the current Citroen Issued recalls so we actually know what is what and which vehicles are effected?

That way we all dont end up asking the same questions pondering if its you that is affected and speculating the vehicles involved.

Or are the issuing of the recall notices by Citroen so vauge and ad hoc that the information they provide will not support such a feature on the forum?

I for one have never received a letter from Citroen claiming a recall (Although I have two recalls on XYD undertaken), so should I wait for a letter or should I go down the dealer or should I wait and see what happens? I know for one thing I'm not going to go down the dealers everytime someone mentions a recall, for a start how do I need to react to it?

I'm not confident that the VOSA website is updated frequently enough to rely upon it as an upto date source of information.

The VOSA site takes a while to be updated. here is a link to another C4 forum

http://www.c4owners.co.uk/plugins/content/....php?content.10

that shows recalls, they show the latest recall as Manufacturer Ref: XYS with no details. My latest recall has a Manufacturer Ref: XYT.

As your car is relatively new I presume all modifications would have already been carried if out necessary. Not all recalls affect all C4's, if in doubt contact your dealer.

Rich,

I think it is advisable for owners of second hand C4's to check for recalls, if the seller has not transfered the information to the original dealer, how are they to know about them? As you say you can't rely on VOSA website. Better to be safe than sorry!

Well being that I bought the car from the Bristol Main Dealer I'd hope they'd have the decency to tell me about the recalls! <_<

...and not turn an hours bit of work to a days like they did when I took it in and they performed the recall...and I sat waiting, and waiting and work ringing asking where I am.

there is also nothing stopping you nipping into the garage and asking them to check out the database, all they need is the reg plate or VIN number and they will tell you if anything is outstanding...

Just got my letter for the XYT recall.

Will be getting done when its in next week. Well they better do it they have the car for 2 days to find out why it keeps going into limp home. 3 times its done it now in just over a week.

But there's always the chance of someone not buying from a main dealer or perhaps a private sale ie Ebay

It makes no odds as to whether they purchase from a bonafide dealer, ebay or the local scrap yard.......the only accurate way of checking for recalls or quality updates is at the main dealer.

Websites of this kind are a usefull source of information, however, the information given out is never going to be 100% correct due to everyone having a different opinion on whatever the faults are and what the recall is supposed to cure.

Another thing about recalls is that since the inception of C4 there have probably been many different updates to the vehicle. Some you will know about because you recieved letters and others you wouldn't because the work is carried out when the vehicle passes through a workshop.

To list all the recalls would cause ......as has happened in this post

*******HEY, LOOK EVERYONE, I'VE GOT A RECALL**********

response:

*******I WANT ONE, I WANT ONE, WHY HAVENT I GOT ONE*******

........and then of course you get the customer who has a problem. He thinks the recall his vehicle isn't affected by, will be cured with something it doesnt need!

Its simple......want to know about recalls, go to your dealer, you might aswell use them for something.

I also bought mine from the main dealers in Bristol and didnt get a letter about a recall but it was in for something else so I just asked while I was there and the added it to the work it was in for although because they didnt have parts I had to take it back a few days later they said I would be getting a letter from Citroen but that never arrived but my post doesnt always arrive
