Oxymoron Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 Hi,The fuel consumption of my 1.6 Berlingo seems to be getting worse!....The last tank only averaged 29.7 mpg, even with me driving relatively carefully!...Perhaps there's a problem?I know, I know!....At this rate I will have to consider an oil burner! A relative has recently bought a Picasso 2.0 HDi and they appear to be getting more like 50 mpg! Newbee Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 Hi, I own a (Y) reg 1.4 Berlingo and I've just worked out that i'm getting just over 24 MPG!!!!!over this period all my driving was in town with a fair bit of congestion.I,m hoping this will improve this summer as I drive to and from my caravan.I find the clutch on this model a bit soft which leads to over reving, the wife managed to jamone of the sliding back doors so the handle will not operate the door, any ideas? DickieG Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 I know, I know!....At this rate I will have to consider an oil burner! :o Steady on Old Boy  Joking aside, my 1.6 HDi has a fuel computer which makes for interesting viewing, increasing speed from 65 to 75 mph normally results in an drop of around 10 mpg :( On Saturday I drove west along the M4 averaging just the low 40's mpg, return journey was over 50 mpg :D both journeys at the same speed, showing the effect of a head/tailwind. The additional drag caused by the brick shape of the Lingo clearly has significant effect on fuel consumption at speed, this is also bourne out by comparing the top speed of the Lingo with other cars using the same engine where the Lingo is around 10 mph slower. northman Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 FWIW, over the past 10 fills (which is about 3000 miles) my 1.6 petrol Berlingo has averaged about 39.2 mpg - mostly rural driving. Quote

Hi,My 1.6 petrol has dropped from around 34mpg to just under 30mpg of late!...Part of my daily commute is motorway and this seems to hit the consumption quite hard.Cheerz. :D Quote
Terry1100 Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 my 1.6 HDi has a fuel computer What year is yours - is the trip computer now standard ? Quote
DickieG Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 What year is yours - is the trip computer now standard ?I replaced my original 2.0 HDi with a 1.6 HDi last December, its got the new seat material and lighter rear lights. Being a Desire with air con it comes with rain sensing wipers and computer which displays outside temperature, average and current fuel consumption, distance since last fill up and range/fuel left etc. Its relatively accurate when I've done my own brim to brim checks bearing in mind speedo accuracy etc. I'm not sure whether the computer is standard (old-timers as I'm now 47  ) Quote
Alec Posted June 17, 2007 Posted June 17, 2007 I get about 32 to the gallon from my W reg 1.8i .Next Berlingo will be a diesel. Quote
