bill03 Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 Anyone know what's involved in fitting Rear Window Sunblind on the C4 Coupé, as it says it requires dealer fitting?Or should I get a spoiler to use as a sunblind? :P Quote
Rich_Eason Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 From the pic on the web it looks like you rip out the trim around the inside of the hatch lid and replace it with a similar moulding with a blind and runners integrated into it. So in theory should be remove panel - install new panel. However I would imagine this would mean seeing bugger all with it down out the back window as apposed to semi bugger all without it, so not really seeing the point of it, especially as there is a parcel shelf to prevent prying eyes. However... The spoiler if parked facing the right direction* can cast a shaddow across the rear window and thus prevents the sun baking the contents of the car** and has the added bonus of making your Coupe look good. :D During the day just park your car in the shaddow of a non sap dropping tree. :D * - Usually early summer mornings and late Summers Eves.** - Especially handy as your rear view mirror tends to flop about abit above 28c inside temp. Spoiler - You know it makes sense... :P Quote
bill03 Posted January 15, 2007 Author Posted January 15, 2007 Spoiler - You know it makes sense... Ok, bought one from Phill (ebay). He only had two left at that price (£129.00), so thought better get one. :D Quote
wozza Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 Sure you asked me what sikoflex to use to bond it? Will find out tomorrow for ya as my cars due in the guy who crashed into me has already paid the body shop up front so its going in there tomorrow. Quote
CoolCarbon Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 what sikoflex to use to bond it? I've just fitted a spoiler to mine...didn't use anything to bond it other than the sticky strips already attached to the sides of the spoiler... Just cleaned the Glass with Meths, then located and stuck it into place, seems fine... :D Quote
wozza Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 Mine was stuck on like that by myself once i complained it didn't last long enough at the dealers and popped off they then replaced all the tape and did it again. Came off 3 weeks later. So I bonded it to the window not come loose in months also a little harder to yank off now. As my spoiler was ripped off my car once outside of a club. Quote
Welshguy Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 You could get a light tint on your back window...I will accept that it makes it difficult to see whats behind you in the dark, but not impossible! Quote
Rich_Eason Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 Welsh, all you need to see is the two gold/yellow halos behind in the dark... right? As long as they arnt intermitant flashing blue 'uns its OK :) Quote
Welshguy Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 Welsh, all you need to see is the two gold/yellow halos behind in the dark... right? Correct. :) Seriously though the visability in daylight is fine, and if you are a good driver you should be aware of whats behind you etc in the dark anyways. The only problem you might have is with reversing...but a good look and use of your windmirrors quickly solves that! Quote
c4owner Posted February 4, 2007 Posted February 4, 2007 Anyone know what's involved in fitting Rear Window Sunblind on the C4 Coupé, as it says it requires dealer fitting?Or should I get a spoiler to use as a sunblind? :oDoesn't need a dealer to fit on a Hatch or probably a coupe Requires you to drill 2 holes in the parcel shelf for the roller section and put 2 clips on the body by lifting the rubber hatch seal at the top on the hatchback 10 minutes to fit tops (did mine last week) Looking at the Coupe I would assume no drilling required but an extra set of clips as you can't go drilling in the glazed area! http://c4owners.co.uk/images/c4/parts/coupeblinds.jpg Quote
