Meta4 Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 QUESTION FOR []KFK IF THE PULLEY HAD FAILED WOULD THERE BE MORE PROBLEMS THAN JUSTRUNNING NOISY THE ENGINE IS SMOOTH ON ACCELERATON.ETC..???? Firstly, typing in CAPS is considered the same as SHOUTING! Please stop :-) I recently bought a second-hand 2.0 HPi. They *are* noisier than standard petrol models, but not quite as noisy as a diesel. The HPi stands for High Pressure injection. Same principle as Mitsubishi GDi (Gasoline Direct injection) engine. They inject fuel directly into the combustion chamber (working against the compression in the cylinder) rather than into the inlet manifold (where it is drawn in with the air intake so not working against anything). The extra noise is the normal and more down to the diesel-like injection system than anything else. Quote
