DickieG Posted February 19, 2007 Posted February 19, 2007 It sounds as if the universal joint on the steering column has siezed, hence the briefly stiff steering and subsequent knocking. I've no idea whether you can buy the UJ independant of the column on Lingo's. Quote
DaveWeller Posted February 19, 2007 Posted February 19, 2007 check also that a spring has not snapped, the steering does go stiff as the spring jamed in the top cup. you can inspect it from the wheel arch. there was a recall for this, they fitted some restaining brackets to the strutt on my car . mines a 2000 year model. Great cars. Quote
