Was just looking at December 2006 tech specs pdf and Citroen UK website...

On the HDi version of C4 VTS and Exclusive, Xenon directional headlights are now a £500 option.

I wonder why that is?

It makes the diesel versions less attractive for new buyers.

The HDi VTS now does not have xenon directional headlights or rear spoiler as standard.

Maybe Citroen were not selling enough petrol versions of VTS and Exclusive?

All the VTS's I've seen in nearly a years of ownership have all been HDI ones, have yet to see another petrol one, not that is an acurate indication of sales however I have seen tens of Astra VXR's and Focus ST's.

Seems a bit odd, perhaps the cost of installing testing inspecting HID as standard has increased?

hdi vts never had xenon or spoiler as standard.

I know the spoiler was never standard on VTS HDi, but I disagree about the xenons, as they were standard in Aug 2005.

As you can see the the xenon lights are now an option, as indicated by the hollow circle for VTS HDi.

But the standard fit ones are auto leveling, include the washers, and turn with the steering wheel to look around bends something yours cant. £500 is not that much for them to be fair.

price one headlamp to buy from dealer parts. think you will be looking at more than £500 for one headlamp over the counter. thats without extra parts for washers and other side headlamp. not a bad price imo.

They were still shown as standard fit on HDI VTS models in September 06 and that's what I thought I would be getting when I placed my order in January so I was a bit pi??ed off to learn that Citroen had made it a £500 option. Suppose I'll just have to wait and see what I get when it arrives.

This is why its always important to make sure you have the latest spec sheet for the vehicle when buying.

Unfortunately, a lot of customers look for cars 6 months ahead of buying which means the information they use as a guide becomes out of date.

Newer is not always better.

Your right there. My old Style C3 Exclusive is way better than my Brothers New Style C3 Exclusive. His drinks petrol and cuts out when it wants to

exactley. thats what they've done with the c4 picasso. you buy vtr+ base model and then you have to add to it unlike old vtr+ which was fully loaded.

The spec. changed on November 1st. I ordered my 2.0 HDI Exclusiv on oct 24th expecting to get steerable xenons and when the car arrived in january guess what- they hadn't been fitted. After several heated and protracted "discussions" with the dealer he agreed to give me a £500 refund.

So I'm happy, especially as they don't appear to be all that reliable.
