theprouk Posted March 4, 2007 Posted March 4, 2007 Hi all, Just bought a Xsara and found that the only way I can get into the boot is by pressing the button on the keyfob. When the car is unlocked normally, I try pressing the button on the boot but I cannot get it to open no matter what. I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem or how it can be fixed. Is it a problem with the latch button on the boot and is it easily fixed? Quote
kfk Posted March 4, 2007 Posted March 4, 2007 The exterior opening handle on the tailgate is used to complete the circuit and send a signal to the main computor at the front of the car, that in turn sends a message back and unlocks the latch. So, seeing as you can operate the boot using the remote control, it would be fair to assume that either the switch in the exterior opening handle is faulty (common) or the wire that runs from the opening handle to the front of the car is broken......if your looking for a broken wire , the o/s hinge area on the tailgate is a good place to start. theprouk Posted March 4, 2007 Author Posted March 4, 2007 Thanks for that. I will check for a broken wire tomorrow. If it turns out that it is the switch on the underside of the boot that is faulty, how easy (or hard) is it to change? Quote
theprouk Posted March 4, 2007 Author Posted March 4, 2007 That's good news I hope then! Not to sound daft or anything, but are there any instructions anywhere on how to do it? Quote
