kirkie Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 Hi Guys, Just a quick question regarding services. I have a Citroen C4 VTR+ on a 55 plate. I live in the East Yorkshire area and my car is due its 20,000 mile service. I have just contacted 2 local Citroen dealers and have just been quoted £185 and £235. To keep the warranty I presume you have to go to an authorised dealer or can you go to any as long as they use genuine Citroen parts. The question is can anyone recommend any other please in my area to take the car? Thanks in advance. Quote

Nothing they can do about it. Quote
kirkie Posted March 19, 2007 Author Posted March 19, 2007 You can indeed go to a garage other than Citroen, as long as you use Citroen parts. Nothing they can do about it. Thanks for that. I will have to find a local garage that I can trust to use genuine parts then..... Quote
Welshguy Posted March 20, 2007 Posted March 20, 2007 Thanks for that. I will have to find a local garage that I can trust to use genuine parts then..... Might be a good idea to see if you can find a dealership that will give you trade discount on the parts if you buy in bulk, or maybe check out Ebay. Quote
idlerobbo Posted March 20, 2007 Posted March 20, 2007 I got mine booked in (2.0 VTS 138bhp) and they have quoted me £169.99 thats Reg Vardy York (well Evans Halshaw now)... Not too much of a travel for you? Quote

kirkie Posted March 20, 2007 Author Posted March 20, 2007 Just to be on the safe side I just might as well use Dixon's like I did with my Picasso..... Quote
wozza Posted March 21, 2007 Posted March 21, 2007 Well using the main dealers least you know any software updates that are available will also be done for you. Quote
kirkie Posted March 22, 2007 Author Posted March 22, 2007 Well using the main dealers least you know any software updates that are available will also be done for you. Yes I suppose you are right. I have telephoned 3 main dealers within my area and all have different prices, so I might see if they will price match.... Quote
Cromlech Posted March 22, 2007 Posted March 22, 2007 Cost me £240 at same dealership in Oxfordshire. Cheaper cost of living up north I guess. Was that Hartwell Abingdon by chance?, as they are my dealer, and that's a start to my research on servicing. Quote
fastbatard Posted March 22, 2007 Posted March 22, 2007 Have you tried looking in the yellow pages for local independant citroen specialists? I'm in Sheffield and there are at least 3 here. Got a quote from one which was half the price of the £200 the dealer wanted for a service on my c5. They said they do everything as citroen would. Quote

lab44 Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 Just been phoning around my local dealers (Kent) and they all seem to want between £215 and £235 for a service. Only one was significantly cheaper - Dutton Forshaw in Gillingham - they wanted £181. Anyone know why the big difference? Anyone used Dutton Forshaw before? Quote

I live in Sheffield also and have a Citroen C3 just wondered if you have used any of them and if so can recommend one as the dealer prices are very high. Cheers Quote

Dutton forshaw is Maidstone.....Hidsons are Gillingham! What service and spec vehicle? Quote
lab44 Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 Soz KFK your right - Hidsons in Gillingham. Think Dutton Forshaw wanted about £217. Originally purchased the car from Barretts in Canterbury but they want £235! Its a petrol 1.6 vtr (just coming up to a year old). Its the 20,000 mile service. Quote

It's possible, but i doubt it, that barrets/duttons prices include the 2 year brake fluid change.....the price you have been quoted by hidsons doesnt include the brake fluid change.....which as your car isnt due for it makes it a better price. Obviously its all dependent on where you are having to travel from. If your considering the Hidsons option, send me PM Quote
lab44 Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 Thanks KFK - was wondering what the big difference was. Actually I think Hidsons took my reg number so probably could tell what i needed when they put it through the computer. I'm from Whitstable so obviously Canterbury is a bit closer so thats my preferred option. Will give them a call tommorrow and ask about how much it will be without the brake fluid. Quote
kfk Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 If you do end up coming to us and its a straightforward 20k with no problems could be done while you wait....or we have loan cars available for a small fee. Quote
Rob555 Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 No. To Lab 444 I Use Hidsons at Rainham Kent you will get a first class job done there, dont mess about with the others as the standard of work at Hidsons is very good . They might even be able to price match your best quote you can only try. It would be nice of them if they could give a discount to forum members, think of the extra work they might get. Quote
lab44 Posted March 30, 2007 Posted March 30, 2007 Booked it in with Barrets (its closer) - £181. Turns out the brake fluid change cost around £50 and didnt need to be done at one year. Thanks for the help Quote
kfk Posted March 30, 2007 Posted March 30, 2007 I might have lost a sale, but i might have got you a better deal nearer to home  Quote

I concur with the above, Hidsons Rainham, very good. Nearly bought a new C4 from there the other day. Sales staff seem good to deal with to. Nick the guys name was, seemed like a decent chap. Quote
Smurf Posted April 24, 2007 Posted April 24, 2007 On subject of servicing. My 05 plate VTR+ coupe is a little over 2 years old. I've only clocked 13K miles so was trying to work out whether I need to have it serviced yet? Is the 20K service based on 20K miles or 2 years? Quote
