Stuey Posted April 24, 2007 Posted April 24, 2007 it should be done at 20K or two years whichever comes first...get it booked in now as if you leave it to long it can void your warranty. Quote
Guest GarthyB Posted April 24, 2007 Posted April 24, 2007 On subject of servicing. My 05 plate VTR+ coupe is a little over 2 years old. I've only clocked 13K miles so was trying to work out whether I need to have it serviced yet? Is the 20K service based on 20K miles or 2 years? The 'or' gives it away I'm afraid....for 'or' read 'whichever comes first'.I just purchased a 19,000 mile VTR+ that had it's 2 year carried out 5 months ago. The service indicator says 16000 miles to next service and the service manual says next service due at Nov 08 or 40,000 miles!!??All very confusing. You need to get it serviced pronto before the warranty becomes invalid!!!! I've booked it in. £190 + £20 to get 4 wheels balanced (steering wheel is juddering at around 77mph). The annoying thing, is that I'm also suffering from really bad brake screeching. Read on here that others have had this sorted under warranty but when quizzed my dealer just says its a non-warranty issue. Anyone have a 'Case ID' for this issue? Quote
kfk Posted April 24, 2007 Posted April 24, 2007 If your reffering to brake noise when in reverse, you will indeed find it's no longer covered by warranty. Citroen advised UK dealers of this at the end of February. Quote
Welshguy Posted April 24, 2007 Posted April 24, 2007 Just booked mine in for 4th May - Costing me £195 with my local dealership. I did ask for a list of what was done/checked but I've forgotten most of them. Anybody (Kfk?) got a list of whats done? Quote
wozza Posted April 24, 2007 Posted April 24, 2007 Usually oil, plugs, filters and fluids. Check of brakes and tyres on a 1st service. Quote
Smurf Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 If your reffering to brake noise when in reverse, you will indeed find it's no longer covered by warranty. Citroen advised UK dealers of this at the end of February. Yes. It makes a horrendous noise in reverse and a fainter, high pitched screech when braking going forward. I've also noticed at slow speeds the brakes bite far to quickly. Even a feather touch seems to bring the car to a stop. Funny thing, was when testing this I managed to get my girlfriend to head butt the glove box! I wonder why Citroen dropped this from the Warranty - a load of screeching, noisy C4s driving around is not exactly a great advert for them. hertsnminds Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 It has probably been dropped from the warranty as it is not unique to the C4 or Citroen. The main cause of brake squeal is the composition of the brake pads. For all you never wanted to know about brakes go to this website: http://www.c3pluriel.org.uk/ Click on the questions section and see the 2 websites under the topic "Why do my brakes squeal". Smurf Posted May 25, 2007 Posted May 25, 2007 Hi Guys, Just a quick question regarding services. I have a Citroen C4 VTR+ on a 55 plate. I live in the East Yorkshire area and my car is due its 20,000 mile service. I have just contacted 2 local Citroen dealers and have just been quoted £185 and £235. To keep the warranty I presume you have to go to an authorised dealer or can you go to any as long as they use genuine Citroen parts. The question is can anyone recommend any other please in my area to take the car? Thanks in advance. I ended up getting my car serviced at a local garage for £70 less than the cheapest Citroen dealer. The engine is purring like a baby. The problem I have is that car still thinks it is due a service. I'm guessing the guys at the garage could not reset the computer. Is there anyway of doing this myself? I've only done 13k miles after 2 years so I have another 7k miles until the service light will prob flash on so its not an urgent problem. Quote

Broach Hill Garage near Driffield is very good as a main dealer. Family run business and they seem very reasonable Quote

Best Citroen dealer I've dealt with so far. Quote
