C4VTS Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 Just had Autoglass turn up with the wrong windscreen for my car. ;) I did specify it has heat reflective glass and the rain sensor when they phoned me. Originally they ordered a screen without the rain sensor, and the one today did not have the heat reflective glass. They call it solar glass. It looks like it's going to take 3 days now just to get a new windscreen fitted. Not happy. :P Quote

kfk Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 :P ;) Looks like it's gonna be thursday now. Recently had to organise a replacement screen at work when one of the technicians managed to damage it. Thinking it would be cheaper to get the glass fitted through Autoglass, we gave them a call to get it sorted, unfortunately for us we got a telephone operator that was on 'training', i lost track of the number of times i double checked the car for light sensors, tint and solar glass......but regarless of the information it was seemingly impossible for them to ascertain what was required. Interestingly they could tell me how much it was going to be (about £800) and they could tell me i would get an extra 10% off if i belonged to the AA. Seemed to me that this was more than i expected and the more i spoke to the autoglass operator the more irritated i became.....somuch so that i was looking to see how much the Citroen Price was......realising the glass was only £280 and icould get it tomorrow i made a decision it would be easier for us to order the glass and get our local glass fitter to install it for a further £50. Makes you wonder how much your insurance companies are paying for glass from these companies, it wouldnt be so bad if they could fit windows properly! As a final point, make sure when they have fitted the glass your mirror is nice and secure and if it has photochromic facility see if that works......also the exterior side trims have a habit of not being fitted correctly. C4VTS Posted March 28, 2007 Author Posted March 28, 2007 Thanks kfk, I will check the things you mentioned when done. The Autoglass call centre staff seem a waste of time if they don't listen to what I tell them.At least the fitters that did turn up seemed interested in my car, and they knew that 2 people are required to fit the screen. Will let you know what happens. ;) Quote
Welshguy Posted March 29, 2007 Posted March 29, 2007 also the exterior side trims have a habit of not being fitted correctly. I can confirm this..I had a crack in my screen which was replaced FOC by my local dealership - unfortunately the external trim seems to be "raised" slighty ever since. Not a big problem, but slightly annoying. Quote
Stuey Posted March 29, 2007 Posted March 29, 2007 nip it back to the dealers mate, mine did it and they replaced it for me Quote
