lee_marshuk Posted March 29, 2007 Posted March 29, 2007 Just thought I'd let you all know my next booking in at the dealership!! 1:- The boot has stopped opening now. Dead as a doornail. For a while it was malfunctioning in as much as it would open, then constantly you'd hear the little electric motor try and open (bzzz, bzzz etc) - but the car wouldn't think the boot was open, if you see what I mean. For example, you know how if you open the car with the remote, it locks automatically if you don't open the boot/car doors within x seconds? It would lock with the boot open because it didn't know I'd opened it. The boot light stopped working. A replacement boot switch and sensor here apparently. 2:- The passenger footwell kept having a fairly significant amount of clear liquid being dumped in it, significant enough to sodden the bottom of people's feet - apparently I have to have the entire dash removed to repair a leaking joint in the heating system. Another 3 days of work!!! - At least the warranty is there, and I do still love the car, however I can't help wondering it Citroen made a net profit on the sale of my car, after all the faults I've had with it!! C4VTS Posted March 29, 2007 Posted March 29, 2007 1) I have seen boot problems on here before, so probably a common fault. 2) I had a similar leakage onto passenger mat a while back, and it was just a heater plug incorrectly fitted. No need to have the dash out if it's the same thing. Knowing the French, they probably build faults into the cars, as it keeps them in a job. :( (bzzz, bzzz etc) Howz it go.  Quote
Welshguy Posted March 30, 2007 Posted March 30, 2007 I have, and still do, suffered from the Boot problem. I have already had one boot lock replaced, but the problem keep returning. My solution is to press lightly down on the spoiler as you press the boot release in, as it ensures the lock doesn't catch. Only problem is when your hands are full! Quote
lee_marshuk Posted March 30, 2007 Author Posted March 30, 2007 Yeah I remember you saying that Welshy, I tried it too, but sadly nothing the motor seems completely dead. (bzzz, bzzz etc) Howz it go. It's a bzzz bzzz, a bit like a bzzzzzzzing bzzzzzzy thing, but without the prolonged bzzzzz  I've often wondered about the building faults thing!! Maybe they sign them as well, see if they get to fix their own faults or someone elses :P Quote
kfk Posted March 30, 2007 Posted March 30, 2007 Have had a proble with one where it appeared the motor had given up, but the wiring had fatigued next to the left tailgate hinge.......now that looks like it will become a problem. Quote

Worth looking under your hood for some of these. :P  http://www.lasenza.co.uk/french_knickers.asp Quote
lab44 Posted March 31, 2007 Posted March 31, 2007 Don't know about French cars / service being rubbish. We purhcased our new Honda Civic Type S on 1st March and its been in the garage ever since. Have rejected the car and the dealer is getting us another one (though hasnt quite managed it yet). And the courtesy civic they have given us has a rattle. My C4's done 20,000 miles and apart from a few niggles (mainly noises and rattles) been fine. Dealers been pretty good too. Quote
hertsnminds Posted April 1, 2007 Posted April 1, 2007 You would be a very lucky person if you went through life and nothing you purchased ever had a fault. To my mind it is not about things going wrong, but how you are treated when they do. There is no substitute for good customer service. Most complaints are about poor communication between the customer and the company they bought something from. IanBlack 55 VTR+ Quote

Cheers for that KFK, will mention it when it goes in. And as for the french knickers mate, I don't need to worry - Mrs lee_marshuk has a 6th sense for any other female's items being in close proximity to me. If she senses anything, she burns it, followed by scratching the eyes out of the owner, and then killing me slowly, very slowly, and very painfully  Quote
