Hi,

Recently bought a 2002 C5 2.2 hdi SX at an auction, it was cheaper than clios and astras that were older and had more miles! So I took a chance (not knowing much about these cars) and i feel got myself a bargain because the car is absolutely stonking value for money (but you all probably know that already)

However I recently "clipped" the nearside mirror on a wall, at 1st I thought thats gonna cost, an arm and a leg, but when I got it home I was relieved that the housing clipped back on, it was cracked but the "workings" of the unit seemed to be in tact, the temp sensor still works, the folding action is fine and the electric adjustment still works. It only seemed to be the glass that was bust. So spoke to my local (non franchise) Citroen specialist he ordered the part, only £18.74 for the heated glass part. However when I took it to him today it would appear that the part of the unit that the glass attaches too must have been damaged and he said he was unable to clip it on. He was embarrassed as he reckons that the only repair now is to replace the whole unit with the cost of £210 +Labour +vat ! Does any body have experience of these units, does this sound possible, is there a cheaper workaround?

Many thanks for any comments I get, All the best. J

Suggest you pop down your local citroen dealer and have a look at the mirror assy on there computer......looks like the motor assy is available, though i doubt they would have it in stock.

Cost, about £35.00.....so worth the effort.

Thanks kfk I'll try that. I'll let you know how I get on.

I never did get round to going down the Citroen dealer. But I have found a cool website that got me a quote for a replacement electric door mirror for £45.00! the website is http://www.1stchoice.co.uk/ I think it looks good.

PS I have now got the sticky door problem with the O/S Rear door grrrr. Lets hope this great car isn't going to start costing silly money to keep going!
