Goon Posted June 12, 2007 Posted June 12, 2007 Good evening,I have just bought an 1800 16v LX estate c5 and I am looking for adice on what to look for. She has done 50,000 miles and looks good. Coming from  a landrover not sure what I should be worried about. Appreciate you comments cheers New to citroenHad a C5 myself and loved it. Only real problem for me was the passenger rear window relay failed. An expensive job through Citroen so did it myself for £50. C5 is a much maligned and underated car. Quote
kfk Posted June 12, 2007 Posted June 12, 2007 Make sure you check the oil regularly.....one minute its on the dipstick, next minute it will need 3 litres. Also worth keeping an eye on the door lock mechanisms.......if they start to become unpredictable get them changed before they jam the door shut. Quote
citroeneddie Posted June 13, 2007 Posted June 13, 2007 Welcome to the Forum. Just a quick tip from me. Get to know your Service Department at your local Citroen Dealer (preferably a family run one, not a big chain of multiples) and build a relationship with the Service Manager. When your car is in for repair or service, you can trust them on price and works carried out. If my Service Manager told me black was white, I would believe him! Enjoy. Quote
kfk Posted June 13, 2007 Posted June 13, 2007 Good to see your still around Eddie, thought you had abandoned us for the Mini forum  Quote
New to citreon Posted June 13, 2007 Author Posted June 13, 2007 Many thanks for the advice, I have been talking to the local mechanic and he has advised me on the cam belt. citroeneddie Posted June 14, 2007 Posted June 14, 2007 Sir Kfk I would have had a Pluriel but SWMBO would have gone nuts at me. I didn't know there was a Mini forum. Not as exciting as Citroen one I bet. Anyway a Mini is for 3 years, Citroen is for life ha ha. Any news on the new C5 later this year before I order then? I know what your answer is but can you give me a sneak answer? Thanks Eddie Quote
