geo Posted October 17, 2004 Posted October 17, 2004 hi there - first time poster here I have a Xantia 1.9TD, P-reg, which has developed an annoying fault which my dealer is unable (or probably unwilling) to diagnose. This is a clicking noise which is located in the steering column or behind the dashboard. It happens occasionally, usually after using the indicator and / or turning the wheel. It is a different sound than the indicator itself, and sounds more like something switching on and off. Sometimes theres a couple of clicks and sometimes it goes on for several minutes. None of the lights flash when this is hapening The dealer offered to renew the indicator stalk for £110, but I'm not convinded this is the cause. Any ideas welcome thansk Quote

DickieG Posted October 24, 2004 Posted October 24, 2004 Sorry GEO, I looked at your posting last week but despite 'racking' my brains could not for the life of me think of any suggestions to give you. The dealers suggestion does seem likely to me though given the symptoms you put forward. It may be that the indicator stalk is not fully returning to its rest position causing it to 'catch' on the steering column. Quote
paul2309 Posted November 5, 2004 Posted November 5, 2004 I f your still around GEO it is the indicator stalk/switch. I had the same problem, fitted one from a scrapper, working fine now. It is the centre spring loaded contact in the indicator switch which when worn half connects with the contact. Quote
