hi,

i live in oz via uk and happily owned a AX 1.4D which i did basic oil and service change. i now have a C4 coming upto 40,000 km service at a silly price over 300 quid which includes oil and filter, fuel filter, pollen filter, spark plugs and air filter. i would like to check if these need replacing but don't know where to start under the bonnet - any help - please.

If you don't know where to start I suggest you leave it to an authorized service agent, as it will affect your warranty if still valid.

An AX service and a C4 service are I suspect very different beasts. The main difference being all of the computers involved in the C4, engine management, ABS, all the controls for the electrics etc etc.

Yes you still have the physical things to change spark plugs, filters etc, but that is just half the story.

Very much so. You won't get far without a laptop with the Citroën software which connects via the interface under ashtray.

It's needed, for example, just to activate the auxillary inputs on the radio. With most radios, you'd expect just to plug the cable in and it would be live and active. Not so with the "alive with technology" C4!

See these fitting instructions.

At 40,000 km this will be the 1st time the plugs, and air filter have been replaced if your not going to replace them you wont really be giving it a service....you will be waiting for problems to occur and the fuel economy to become worse.

The Pollen filter is replaced every service and will become blocked in time which will reduce the efficiency of your airconditioning/heating system.

Oil and filter......well you replace it, say no more

So do those part require replacement.....depends if your going to do the job properly or not.

As far as checking the diagnostic codes on the vehicle, you would need a code reader to carry this out. If the vehicle is running normally with no warning lamps flashing you may be able to do without this part of the service, however, its suprising how many times we find a fault recorded even though the customer isnt complaining of anything.

With regard to the cost of service £300 every 20,000km...If your service improved your miles per gallon how much would you save?
