Randombloke Posted July 10, 2007 Posted July 10, 2007 Does anyone know when the DW12ATED engine fitted to the C5 became OBD2/EOBD compliant? I'm reliably informed that the ECU in question is the Bosch EDC 15C2. I suspect that RPN 8941 is a major number in this saga, but have no idea. Was the transition to EOBD compliance at the same time as the change from the 88 way connector for the ECU to the 112 pin one? Quote
Randombloke Posted July 11, 2007 Author Posted July 11, 2007 Some useful information from Bassrock here: Bassrock's investigations into EOBD with some info about KWP 2000 Does this help in answering the question above? Can anyone suggest where there might be some more info on KWP 2000 variants? Quote
iannez Posted July 11, 2007 Posted July 11, 2007 all c5's are and have always been eobd compliant. dont understand your question. are you trying to find a code reader that works on one. Quote

Yes. I have already tried one EODB code reader with CAN BUS support, but no joy. I'm trying to find a reader that will work, as it seems that most other makes are supported by the affordable code readers you can buy, but no one on any English speaking Citroen forum seems to have had any joy with the smaller hand held units costing £30->£100. Is it a question of protocol? Bassrock's answer seems to indicate that there was a lesser used protocol being used to communicate. I'm waiting on a Geniscan 500 trial on the Yahoo forum. Quote
iannez Posted July 12, 2007 Posted July 12, 2007 i,ve tried quite a few of the cheaper code readers and none have worked. i have even tried citroens own diag software on a laptop with various comunication cards (can bus) and again, none of these have worked. when we update the software it also updates the com card thats provided with the tool so think its the actual software on the card that makes it compatible and not just the protocol. have used snap-on and mac diag tools and these work fine but cost between £1500 + £2000. the com card thats provided with citroens own diag tool are £500 and the complete unit costs £7500. when people wonder why a diag check is so expensive this is the reason. why can't everything be like vw/audi. £5 lead of internet and a free download and you have a proper diag tool with live data, not just a code reader. Thanks mate I will downgrade my search for this, it's unlikely that I will find anything that works. If I do I will post here. Quote
