Randombloke Posted July 11, 2007 Posted July 11, 2007 Please can someone help me, ideally someone with a 2001 or 2002 C5 equipped with the OEM VDO Dayton Sat Nav, which will be the RT2 variant. If you still have the original CD with the Sat Nav software (NOT the map), please can you have a look at it and post any web links which are written either on the CD or the cover for it. I'm looking for a website in Holland that will give me an affordable update to the Sat Nav software. I've been advised by somone in the know that this is the most cost effective route, as opposed to the very high cost of buying direct from Citroen. I've also heard that the same upgrade CD from Citroen in France is €22.99. Any comments please? Thanks in advance. Quote

Where are you going with this ? I have contacted VDO and they have responded that I need to go to Citroen if it's an OEM fit. I wanted to know whether I could upgrade the firmware to use postcodes in UK from new Telemap or Navtech data. I have loaded newTelemap CD and not suprisingly all remains the same with the exception of much newer mapping and many more places.RegardsJohn Quote

Some more research via the excellent Planete Citroen forum based in France has unearthed a very keenly priced update CD from Citroen Auch. I'm waiting for it to arrive. I'll report back. Update instructions are also on the Planete Citroen site, but are in French. On the subject of Sat Nav was a Magnetti Marelli system ever factory fitted to C5s? I'm asking about the Mk1/Ph1 sold up to 2004. Quote

I'm waiting for it to arrive. I'll report back. The CD has arrived and I have updated both my display and the Sat Nav without problems. The CD has a complete set of instructions in all the languages the car uses. As I bought the car without a CD it is useful to have anyway. €22.72 plus €13 postage. Quote

What are the Updates, does the screen look different ? are the menues different ? can you do Post Code search ? etc etc etcRegards John Quote
Randombloke Posted August 5, 2007 Author Posted August 5, 2007 What are the Updates, does the screen look different ? are the menues different ? can you do Post Code search ? etc etc etc There are a number of changes. Knob is more sensitive, and therefore scrolls faster. Time shown on trip computer screen is now engine running time, not elapsed time since last reset. Postcode searches work in France and Italy but I do not not know if this is a result of new CDs with better databases in sat nav or software update. Sat nav seems to be faster to calculate and recalculate but the proximity of a ladder and hang glider are still hampering GPS reception. Screen seems to have been improved in look by lighting effect on surfaces - very minor. Quote
Guest Rob Snowden Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 Hi, newbie here to this forum. I have just bought a 2001 Y reg C5 V6 Exclusive with the colour screen satnav. The disk that came with the car is the original 2001 map and I have just bought the latest 2007/2008 TeleAtlas disk with full postcode search. I have found as mentioned in this thread that although the disk works ok and the road network coverage has clearly improved with the new disk, I still cannot access the extra features such as full post code search nor does the screen look any different - not sure what I expected mind you but I am a little disappointed. I assume therefore that I need to update the car's firmware to do this. The disk mentioned above would seem to be the answer but I am unsure where to obtain this from in the UK - any help would be appreciated. By the way you can still do basic 5 digit postcode searches with the old 2001 firmware by simply entering the post code in the TOWN field. Thanks in advance for any assistance. Rob Quote

The disk can be bought from a Citroen dealer I'm sure - you will need to find one like Bollingmores who are up to speed on this sort of thing. There may be a price issue, I was advised to find the CD myself for reasons of cost. Bollingmore's web site I have yet to try a post code search in the UK on 7 characters as I have been away. All the postcodes in all the European countries I've travelled through in the last 2 weeks are 5 digit only. Quote

Cheers Rob Actually Randombloke, reading your post further - could you advise where you got your disk so that I may buy one from the same place too? If you could post the link/telephone number/web address then this would be very helpful and much appreciated. :) Thanks Rob Quote
Randombloke Posted August 13, 2007 Author Posted August 13, 2007 Actually Randombloke, reading your post further - could you advise where you got your disk so that I may buy one from the same place too? I bought it from Citroen Auch: http://www.citroen-auch.com/ I cannot remember the exact part number as it was part of a debate on Planete Citroen. If you search the message of the same subject on the Yahoo C5 forum it is there. Be wary as there are two types of Sat Nav, one Philips IIRC and one VDO Dayton. Otherwise you'll have to wait till I finish my hols and can give you the part number from the receipt I have at home. Quote

Randombloke Posted August 22, 2007 Author Posted August 22, 2007 can you do Post Code search ? Post Code search with the updated software is still limited to 5 characters on UK postcodes with Teleatlas/VDO Dayton 2006/7 discs. Quote
sarrybaldy Posted October 31, 2007 Posted October 31, 2007 Can anyone tell me where the Satnav ECU lives???Is it built into the CD drive?? Quote
pmk76 Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 Hi Rob, The part number is 00006563Y2 and the description is CDROM LOGICIEL. HTH, HAND. Hi there, I've had a look at the website (http://www.citroen-auch.com/achat/recherche.php?motclef=CDROM+LOGI&action=go) and they seem to not have that item now, but a list of some others - which one would be advisable to go for, on a 2001 Y C5? Any advise would be great! Thanks for reading. Paul Quote
