freshcharlie Posted July 27, 2007 Posted July 27, 2007 Hi folks,Our C2 won't start. The engine turns over, there is plenty petrol getting to the injector but no spark. There is no voltage at the coil pack 4 way connector. I have traced this to fuse 15 on my model in the engine bay fuse box - which is intact. There is no voltage on either leg of the fuse holder.I'm thinking this is an engine management problem.... ?Are there any more simple tests I can do at home before getting it towed to a dealer ?Please tell me there is an easy answer. Thanks, Charlie Quote
kfk Posted July 27, 2007 Posted July 27, 2007 Ok......so the first thing i would say is Fuse 15 is supplied by Fuse 8 in the same fuse box....is there power at fuse 8? yes?.....then something isnt energising the relays in the underbonnet fuse box. Is the engine management light coming on?....if no would be worth checking power feeds to ECU. Has the vehicle been through any deep water?.....might be worth checking the engine speed sensor on the gearbox for water contamination......if the fuel injection computer doesnt get a signal from the engine speed sensor it wont know when to spark/inject. If you need further help it would be usfull to know what engine were talking about and whether its a Bosch/magneti mareli/siemens system (written on the ECU) Quote
freshcharlie Posted July 28, 2007 Author Posted July 28, 2007 Fuse 8 has power and is intact.Just discovered that Fuse 15 gets power for a couple of seconds on the key turn then you can hear relays drop and it goes dead. Should have twigged this earlier because you can hear the petrol pump buzz for a couple of seconds then die. Sorry. It's a 1.1 engine the ECU is Magnetti Marelli. Thanks for any help. Charlie Quote
kfk Posted July 28, 2007 Posted July 28, 2007 I think before you go any further it may benefit you to get the engine speed sensor checked or replaced. If i remember correctly the cost of the sensor is about £20.......if you have a spare £20 could be worth giving it a go before you invest hard earned cash in a diagnostic check.....obviously if moneys a bit tight at the moment you may be better off booking for the diagnostic and hoping they dont tell you its the sensor. freshcharlie Posted July 29, 2007 Author Posted July 29, 2007 Thanks to everyone who made suggestions.I discovered the sensor on the gearbox at the front of the engine has a broken connector. That wriggled about .... then the car started !!! Yipee. Charlie Quote
