Hi everybody,

I want to bleed the fuel system on my 1.9TD & run some good quality diesel treatment through to clean the system & injectors. Now i know you can put it in the tank but i don,t want to do it that way. I was talking to a "diesel specialist" today & he told me that it was far more effective to put the additive directly into the fuel filter. This he said is the way he does it - sounds a good idea & i can see the benefit. So what is the best way to go about this ? I,ll have to use the primer pump ( buldgy thing in fuel line ) & take the top off the fuel filter right ? Anyway anybody done this before, what,s the best procedure to do the job properly ? - over to you xantia TD experts, advice please.......... :D

If I was going to disturb the fuel filter I would combine it with popping in a new cartridge. So remove the top, clean out the bowl fill the bowl half full with cleaner, put in the cartridge, refit the top, then use the hand primer.

Ok that sounds good advice. As regards running the additive through, is it a case of run the engine & pump at the same time or another way, sorry i,m not quite sure of the procedure. :D

Use the hand primer to fill the bowl. The bulb will feel solid when the bowl is full. Start the engine and let it tick over. I would also put some cleaner in the fuel tank as well.
