steve909 Posted August 5, 2007 Posted August 5, 2007 Hello all,Just bought, yesterday, a june 98 xsara 1.8 petrol auto. The hand book quotes two types of possible gearbox and fluid specifications. I want to put the car in for a service and change the fluid and filter but not sure which gearbox would have been fitted, or how to find out. Can anyone point me in the right direction, are Citroen UK helpful with questions like this? Thanks in advance,Steve Quote
DickieG Posted August 6, 2007 Posted August 6, 2007 In the handbook, it may well give digrems/picture of the two types, one could for instance have a 'sports' button with a different way of selecting gears on the lever. Quote

Thanks for the reply,Its all general stuff in the books that came with the car, just a diagram of gear selection and what to use if towing etc. I'll have to invest in a Haynes manual (or should that be Haynes auto in my case!) to know for sure I suppose. I've seen them on eBay for about £15. One thing that did come to light from the documentation, which I didn't know, was that the major service is due at 75k, and my car has done just over 74k! Nice. Looks like my hand is deep into my pocket. I could have used that fact to haggle the price. You live and learn.. It's a new toy at the moment, so I'm off out to fiddle with it and clean it, you know what it's like when they are new...Thanks again.Steve Quote
