Guest rowls Posted August 10, 2007 Posted August 10, 2007 it will probably be the rear subframe mounting blocks. theyre are 2 square ones right at the back of the subframe, or some larger mounts that sit at the front of the rear subframe. Quote

I'm not sure about it. is squeaking involved as well? Jack the car, and check if the subframe is a little loose. If so, then rowls is right, and it's the blocks (it's rubber, so it will not last for ever). Otherwise, problem is in the rear axle (the bearings and the arms) - usualy they don't put enough grease in the factory, so eventualy the bearings break and start "eating" the rear arms. Check this thread as well. Quote

Check this thread as well. Most likely the front mounts on the rear subframe. ZXs are known for this and I am informed that, although it is annoying, it does not constitute an MOT failure. The mounts are reasonably straightforward to change if you have a lift or a pit. I did my son's ones over a pit in about 3 hours. Getting the bolt holes lined up during re-assembly was worst. Would have been easier if the lower shocker bolts hadn't been seized solid and wouldn't come out. The job would have been easier with the shocker out of the picture! The car has been as quiet as a mouse since. Cheers Hope this helps. Quote
