C4VTS Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 I have an intermittant service warning light, and a message saying cooling circuit is low.Seems to happen some mornings when I start the car. Does this mean that I need to top up?I have always thought it looked low since I have had the car, so don't think it's leaking. What sort of coolant should I use in my VTS HDi ? Quote

C4VTS Posted August 28, 2007 Author Posted August 28, 2007 its water I presume you never need anti-freeze where you live? When I had my Audi A4 it was important not to mix different types of anti-freeze as it could damage the engine. I need to know which type I should use? Quote
Johndouglas Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 You really need the same additive as what's already in there. However, if you're only talking about needing a cupful to bring the level to correct, then water will do. Quote

The handbook says nothing about what to use. The maintenance guide just says see your dealer. I guess water will do for just topping up. Quote

So use water until thats all is left and then start using anti freeze but youll be ok for the summer. Most people ive asked have just said use water and if its not working start using anti freeze Quote

C4VTS Posted September 1, 2007 Author Posted September 1, 2007 Topped up the coolant today with tap water. Probably only half a litre maximum was needed to get between Min & Max on the reservoir. Thanks for all advice. Quote
