Guest rowls Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 If your saxo has the L4 emission setup (catalyst is bolted straight onto manifold) the cooling fan is controlled by the engine ecu. It may be one of the sensors that feeds temperature info to the ecu that is faulty. Quote
smileeukfem Posted July 28, 2008 Posted July 28, 2008 HiI have a citroen saxo 1.1 year 1999. X reg. I just noticed this evening that the cooling fan is not coming on when I switch off the engine as it usually does. The red warning light in the temp gauge has come on and the needle on the gauge seems to be going towards the high side. (if that makes any sense)Please can you tell me what I need to do and if the fault is an expensive one to fix Quote
techbod Posted July 29, 2008 Posted July 29, 2008 so you have checked all the fuses? next is the fan speed relays to be found on the front of the radiator ( front grill has to come off ) they are covered with a plastic cap, the main fuse is near the battery 30 amp if the fans don't come on it will over heat and cost you a cylinder head job Quote

Is this a big job checking the fuses and what do I do with the fan relays? Is it easy to take off the front grill? If I took it to a garage how much could I be charged? Quote
techbod Posted July 29, 2008 Posted July 29, 2008 as a friend with car tech minded to do it a garage might take you for a ride due to lack of knowledge and being a girl, does the air conditioning fan work? if yes then leave it turned on to prevent over heating its cheaper than replacing the cylinder head if it blows, the fan will take the place of the cooling fan Quote
techbod Posted July 29, 2008 Posted July 29, 2008 my appols I was on about the xantia and just released its a saxo silly me any way the fuse is still in the box near the battery F3 and should be marked on the inside of the cover, very similar systems on both cars cough Quote

I took your advice and checked the fuses and you were right, the cooling fan fuse was broken and a quick change of the fuse sorted the problem out. I have a real nice neighbour, who gave me the fuse, so it did not cost me anything in the end. Hooray ! Thank you once again for all your help techbod'. gratefully Debz Quote
