DaveWalling Posted September 10, 2007 Posted September 10, 2007 Can anybody please tell me how many spheres my 1.9TD M Reg Xantia has? I have looked for spares and it seems there could be between 5 to 10 spheres! As I have now decided that it might be better changing them all in one go I want to know how many to order ;) Quote
Guest sirdrinksalot Posted September 10, 2007 Posted September 10, 2007 I should think on that year its probably 5 one each on the front suspension you can see these under the bonnet, an accumulator sphere which is down the front between the engine and the radiatorand one on each of the rear suspension legs. Johndouglas Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 As I have now decided that it might be better changing them all in one go I want to know how many to order ;) There are dozens of different spheres for different Xantias. You need to know your exact model and whether for front or rear. Quote
Ronin Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 this might help you out..... all the sphere types and pressure settings etc. As John has mentioned.http://www.kolumbus.fi/perhe_pitkanen/xw/spheres.htmYour car has six spheres2 front outer2 rear outer1 accumulator sphere1 anti-sink sphere (careful removal of suspension pipe that goes into the sphere before its removed the normal way) Always use ramps or axle stands when working on suspension. DaveWalling Posted September 11, 2007 Author Posted September 11, 2007 Thanks everybody for your help, I do have one other question and that is if a front sphere was leaking fluid apart from the obvious oil on the floor what would be the symptoms. I ask this because I have a leak on the front nearside and no obvious leak point, however the oil/fluid leaking is fairly clear, making me think that it could be hydraulic fluid? Would one of the symptoms be the same as a duff sphere? ie. hard and bouncy suspension? Quote
Johndouglas Posted September 12, 2007 Posted September 12, 2007 If a sphere is leaking, it can only leak from around the seal on the flange - and that you should be able to see. Quote
