dragonair Posted September 10, 2007 Posted September 10, 2007 Hi this is my first post and sorry if I missed a solution on a search..... 2002 C5 Exclusive 2.2 HDI estate rear tail gate window has failed for the second time after an replacement glass 2 years ago. Dealer did it under warrany but probably fitted second hand. Window will not open. Any fix or is it another window - any sources? CD player under the seat - car has forgot it exists again is this a dealer job? Great site. rgds Quote
Randombloke Posted September 10, 2007 Posted September 10, 2007 Hi this is my first post and sorry if I missed a solution on a search..... 'Fraid you have but no issue. It's been covered on both this list and the Yahoo C5 list too. 2002 C5 Exclusive 2.2 HDI estate rear tail gate window has failed for the second time after an replacement glass 2 years ago. Dealer did it under warrany but probably fitted second hand. Window will not open. Any fix or is it another window - any sources? There is a cheap and very reliable fix but it is not an official one. Thread on rear screen opening The fix is easy to do with some bell wire, gaffer/duct/sileage repair tape and a soldering iron. You will also need a multimeter. It will take you a leisurely hour or a rushed 1/2 hour. The rear window is not worth replacing unless you get it done for free under guarantee. CD player under the seat - car has forgot it exists again is this a dealer job? I would check all cables. Most older head units simply recognise a changer on the end of the cable, but then again with the C5 maybe it needs to be coded into the car. Seeing as it's dead anyway I'd be tempted to simply unplug it, have a good look and remake all connections. Quote

Agreed - worst case it should be a 10min job at the dealers to recode it - but experience says, unless you've had a software upgrade or changed the stereo recently - it'll be a loose connector somewhere.
