The clutch on my Nov 05 Berlingo started slipping at 25,000 miles and by 32,000 miles was undriveable. A replacement was fitted by Citroen (I paid) and that is now failing at 60,000 miles. Clearly I travel a lot of miles and I do undertake short trips on stone tracks, but the vehicle is never heavily laden and I am careful with the clutch. The clutch on my last car, a Ford Focus Estate 1.8TDi, was still working fine when I sold the car with 180,000 miles on the clock! The Citroen dealerships have not been at all helpful. It is easy for a garage to blame the driver, but there is a problem with this vehicle. Has anybody else suffered early clutch failure on a EuroIV engined Berlingo?

Yes.

I am currently arguing the case with Citroen at the moment. My car has done 52000 miles, but the dealer who replaced the clutch said that the pressure plate had failed rather than the friction surfaces worn out. They had tried to put it through as a warranty claim, but it was rejected by Citroen UK.

If you'd like to PM me, I can give you my phone number to trade information.

Cheers!

are either of these cars 1.6HDI? in which case is it down to a dual mass flywheel, which are known problem areas in loads of diesel cars these days...
