Guest maureen Posted September 25, 2007 Posted September 25, 2007 Reg 02, 1400 diesel engine, 71000 miles. I have started to smell occasional fumes in the car. It passed the MOT 2 weeks ago without any problem even when I asked them to check for the cause of the smell. They could not find anything, but I think its getting worse. Has anyone any advice if this is a perished seal etc, and therefore a simple job, or something more serious. Any advice appreiated. Quote
kfk Posted September 25, 2007 Posted September 25, 2007 Possibly caused by an injector coming loose and allowing unburnt fuel to linger under the bonnet and come in through the heater vents. Recommend a dealer visit to have the injectors removed and new seals fitted, expect costs around £350 Quote
smokescreen Posted September 26, 2007 Posted September 26, 2007 Hi there, I had a very similar problem. Smell of diesel and a very small pool stain on the drive from under the engine. Fault was leaking fuel from split in fuel return pipes from the injector system - replaced under warranty. Regards Smokescreen55 reg C3 1.4 HDI SX Sensodrive Quote
arrows Posted September 26, 2007 Posted September 26, 2007 Are you sure the fumes are not coming from the car in front. Try pressing the recirculation button if in heavy traffic - usually happens when a diesel car in front is pulling away hard. Quote
stimulator Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 It could be the aircon does it smell all the time or only after it has first been turned ON. Look in the Picasso site and search for aircon smells might help. Quote
Guest sunone433 Posted July 18, 2010 Posted July 18, 2010 I had this problem - it turned out to be a glow plug seal leaking. The garage charged about £350. Quote
iannez Posted July 18, 2010 Posted July 18, 2010 agree with kfk. is there a chuffing nose from under the bonnet. Quote
