Throttle Pedal Height

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone

very pleased so far with our 52 plate 110HDI, but concerned that the pedal seems so low in relation to the brake. This wasn't the case in the Xantia, and seems to have safety implications. Does anyone know the correct position for the pedal, if this isn't it, and is it easily adjustable?

thanks in advance

Some info here:

2.0 HDi lack of acceleration

If there is slack in the cable I think the throttle pot is under the main ECU for the engine behind the battery.

The pedal is low in comparison with some other cars I've driven and is also quite short travel.

the pedal is low compared to most cars, to adjust it follow the cable to the near side of the car and the adjuster is under the air truncking from the air cleaner, right by the brake servo, all it is a clip which you can remove and put in different positions as the outer sheath is groved, do not do to tight, when the pedal is on the floor that is the max travel, if it is to tight and floor it you can damage /snap the pot. it is a pig to do as acsess is limited, I did mine by touch and struggled as I have big hands, hope this is of help, it should come clear when you get in there.

Many thanks to "randombloke" and "jacko" for your replies. I'll try to get my hands in! Any rough idea what the clearance off the floor should be?

By way of thanks: our local Citroen dealership mentioned that they sell 40 per month of the flexible mounts for the engine cover because the adhesive fails between the rubber and the bolt. I think a marine adhesive called Sikaflex may be the answer. It cures like rubber and is "impossible" (almost) to remove when I've used it on the boat. The only drawback is its price, unless you live near a Trago Mills store who have it for £6.95.
