Hi people,

Firstly what no synergie section :P

now the real problem, my 1.9td synergie has starship mileage and a knackered head. I plan to ditch this motor and source a lower milage engine. I know that this motor is fitted to lots of different vehicles (citroens, pugs, even ldv vans) and will be easy to source. What I need to know is what cars also share the same gearbox as I would like to replace this as well.

My synergie is a 98 model and I wondered if a mid to late 90s ZX, XM or Xantia 1.9td would share much running gear?

Any help would be much appreciated,

Xantia mk1 & Mk2, Synergie, Dispatch 1 & 2 all share the same engine, however the gearbox is either unique or shared with a few Dispatch models.

As a point of interest, dont take a chance and fit an engine because it has come out of a'1,9 TD' so it must be the same........most of the differences will be within the engine usually valve sizes, valve lift or cam timing......it will never run correctly.

Peugeot 806

Fiat Ulysse

Lancia Z

are all similar to the Synergie

I fail to see what difference valve sizes, camshaft timing and valve lift would have on the engines ability to run correctly. All this would do would be to alter the power and torque delivery curves and change the engines driving character slightly.

There are distinct differences between Atmo and Turbo engines which are all but insurmountable, but any turboed engine which will fit, will run just as well in it's new home as it did in the one it last occupied. As I say, the driving experience may be slightly different.

Cheers

People can fit whatever they like based on the fact 'it looks the same'.........but when it doent run as expected, doesnt return good fuel economy or doesnt pull like the old one used too you might be a bit cheesed off.
