Guest jamesarm Posted October 14, 2007 Posted October 14, 2007 Hi guys, I have inherited a C2 from my uncle, looks really nice, drives well but as soon as its warmed up it starts squealing! The noise seems to come from the front wheels or under the bonnet, MOT guy couldnt find anything wrong behind the wheels, noise seems to stop when the car is turning, but is constant on the motorway etc. Somebody has suggested it could be a build up of pressure in the power steering resevoir. Can anybody out there help? cheers from a new owner. Quote
kfk Posted October 14, 2007 Posted October 14, 2007 Check for a ring of corrosion around the outer edge of the front discs. It isnt unnusual for the corrosion to occur to such an extent that when the discs get hot, which causes them to expand, that the corrosion then rubs within the front brake calipers as it passes through.......by the time you have whipped the wheels of to check this phenomena the discs will have cooled and no fault will be found. iannez Posted October 14, 2007 Posted October 14, 2007 the only thing i can think of is what kfk said but i can guarantee you 100% that it will not be a build up of pressure in the power steering reservoir. Quote

I am at a loss to know what it is. It certainly sounds like under the bonnet or the front tyres as you say. I sprayed a lubricant around the belt that drives the alternator which seems to stop it for a short time and I am wondering if this belt has hardened over a period of time and needs replacing. Any comments to help this would be appreciated. Quote
err Posted September 18, 2008 Posted September 18, 2008 I have the same problem. Did anyone found a solution what it could be and how it could be fixed? This squeaking started something about 25 000 km (~15 000 miles). ThanksErr Quote
Guest Citroen CT Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 this problem is with the brake pads, around the fish tails of the pads metal backing the paint melts and causes the pads to stick ever so slightly, aesily fixed by taking out the pads and cleaning the brake pads on a wire wheel or with emery cloth then apply some copper grease.hey prestono more brake squeel when hot, note this is not a fix for the poor quality pads that squeel because or the compound used in the friction material Quote
