Hi

I have just purchase a 2002 51 plate C5 HDI SX. It is a joy to drive but I am not sure of one thing. Is it supposed to have a reversing sensor and if so can you turn it on and off?.

I have read the manual that came with it and it states nothing regarding this matter.

Help!!!!

Mine is a 2005 model and it has a reverse sensor which can be turned off. Usually you can see where the sensors are in the bumpers. There will be four circles along the length.

Does it 'ping' when you put it into reverse?

Alan...

Actually they all ping when you select reverse, but this is nothing to do with reversing sensors.

My SX has no sensors, I think they were an option on Exclusive models and not available on SX in 2002

Yep my 51 C5 does as well, just wondered if the OP had read the manual & thought when they mentioned a 'ping' in reverse he thought they meant reversing sensors & not just notification he was in reverse if you see what I mean.

On my SX estate you get a ping when selecting reverse. (no sensors) The wife's exclusive which does have sensors doesn't ping but after a short delay beeps once then goes through the normal sensor process.

Is it just me or does anyone else reverse back and just at the critical moment as the beeps flatline knock it into neutral then panic and slam the brakes on?

Thought not..........
