Hi there,got a 2004 exclusive HDi and have been hearing about cars that run on vegetable oil/diesel mix and was wondering if anyone has tried this and if so what mods would be needed to the fuel system?

There is an Australian site that has a vegetable oil only forum that would answer your questions, unfortunately I have mislaid the link to it {and I'm a forum member! :-( }

It would appear that it would be too viscous particularly under UK climatic conditions. You need a seperate fuel tank for the Mazola with a heater (usually drawn from the engin cooling system) and a changeover valve to switch between Mazola and Diesel. The trick seems to be to run on diesel for the first ten miles or so, switch over for the main part of the journey then back to diesel for the last ten miles to clear the veg oil from the pump and pipes.

This might be of interest until I can search out the missing link.

Edited to add:

IIRC the PSA test fleet has been running on various level of bio diesel mix for a while.

You may find more if you Google for PSA Peugeot Citroen Bio diesel mix.

Given the enormously high pressure that HDi runs at, you'll want to be very sure before you try it.
