Webby Posted December 2, 2007 Posted December 2, 2007 After leaving the car standing and locked up for 1 hour plus I go back and open it with the key fob but the lights do not flash to tell me that the car has unlocked. Also when I open the doors none of the inside lights come on. When I go to start the engine the computer flashes up eco mode, and nine times out of ten the traffic master talks!!!!! I then turn off the engine and re start it, this seems to do the trick, but I do not understand why all of a sudden it has decided to do this, I would appreciate any advice on this... Has a fuse blown or the electrics have a gremlin?????? Please help  Quote
iannez Posted December 2, 2007 Posted December 2, 2007 eco mode is basically battery saver mode. when a ecu detects current drain it puts your car into this state to stop the battery from going flat. starting the car resets this. have you got an after market radio fitted or leaving a phone or sat nav charger plugged in as this could cause it. if not a component has gone down and is causing battery drain. Car did not even turn over. When I went to lock it the remote didn't work so have had to lock it manually. Garage is coming out with lorry to put car on this afternoon will post here what happens. The radio I presume came with the car (only had it since July this year) I don't have a sat nav or mobile plugged in, so it might be the radio as it comes on when you turn the ignition??!! I always turn the radio off manually. Could be a fault on the radio or the COM 2000 unit that controls it via column stalks. After the comments you made in your other post in the other section looks like you have a COM 2000 fault. About £350. Later. Quote

Could it be the alternator, I did suggest this to the garage but he said no. Anybody any ideas please!!!! You need to check for any sort of current drain, as iannez says. With some cars it can be caused by the back up battery in the alarm getting old and taking too much current in its trickle charge mode from the battery. Check no lights in boot left on, etc. If you get desperate you will have to pull the fuses to various accessories one by one. Don't disconnect anything important. Quote
Webby Posted February 29, 2008 Author Posted February 29, 2008 Thanks Randombloke, I have just spoken to the garage and he has told me that it is normal to have eco mode showing. I have had the car for nearly a year and the last time it came up the battery was dead as you are aware of. Changed the battery and the eco mode went away, until last week when it came back again. I will have to find another citreon garage and maybe they will listen to me!!!! Quote

I have a Subaru Forester that has the ABS light come on when the battery is weak, it is currently on constantly at the moment cos the battery had been flattened and will now not take a full charge. It's not a big problem though co there is still plenty power in the battery to start and run the vehicle. By the way, a new battery would set me back over £80, so I'm happy to keep going with it fr now and just put up with the ABS light being on all the time. But of course, I will never be aware of an ABS fault if one did occur! Quote
Guest del-m Posted March 23, 2008 Posted March 23, 2008 I had a problem with my C5 constantly going into eco mode. I took it to a garage and he could not find a fault at first. Then he noticed the suspension going up after car had been parked up, a fault sensor on the suspension system was causing adjustments to suspension which was draining the battery. That was over a year ago. Quote
