As with anything, it can be done. However if you read through some of the previous posts you will find that there is a lot more to it than initially may appear. You can just bolt on a turbo (With relevant manifolds and different exhaust frontpipe) if you want and leave it there. Increasing the fuelling on the existing pump will give a slight performance boost,(as was done with later "SD" Xantias, mainly in the pursuit of lower emissions), but to get the full beneifit you need to change the pump for one with the "Turbo Compensator" (Bosch, including all bracketry etc.) which will increase the fuelling further as boost increases. It doesn't end there as you would also need the intercooler and all the pipework that accompanies it. Also the compression ratio on the atmo diesel is higher and the valve timings are different.

Putting a turbo engine into your car is probably easier but I think you'll find that the turbo has different (Read bigger) front brakes which will need to be up-rated to cope with the (MUCH) better performance. All in all you'd be better off selling your's and buying one that is factory turbo'd!

Another problem comes along when your insurance people ask if the vehicle is "Modified". It doesn't seem to matter that all you did was make it the same as a factory one. They seem to take a dim view of it anyway.

SO? Not as simple as it first seems! Cheers. Sorry to rain on your parade! :(

You don't say where you are but I had a look on Autotraders website and there's a couple of straight looking ZX 1.9TD Volcanes on there for under £600. One black 3 door and a metalic blue 5 door with only 84,000 up! Go to http://www.autotrader.co.uk/ and register (It's free) to enable you to use the full search facilities. The Volcanes are really well specced as well. Cheers ;)
