scimitargtc Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 2000W HDi hatch - apart from all the probs with AC & cooling fans glow plugs are now clearly on the blink - fuses intact & the Autodata CD I have which covers ALL vehicles indicates the relay is either the "BITRONIC" brown plastic encased unit OR a black plastic sealed unit in the front nearside space in front of the battery. Can anyone confirm which 1 I need to replace? Ta! in advance ps I'd love a CIT cd if anyone can help Quote
kfk Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 why is it going to need the relay replaced?....have you checked the glowplugs yet.....one defective glow plug will stop it working.......if you remove the load from it it also stops working. More likley a glow plug than the relay. Quote
iannez Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 glow plugs on a hdi will not work unless the outside temp is less than -5 deg. why do you think theres a fault with them. Quote

Hi, thanks for reply, lamp does not extinguish for ages (>30 secs) & starts with loads of grey smoke & 2.5 cylinders the eventually fires on all 4 Hadn't thought 1 glow plug failiure would stop them all as it appears they are wired in parallel. Will check the plugs individually Quote
