StephenM Posted March 7, 2005 Posted March 7, 2005 What does the HDi really get to the gallon? My 1.6 16v seems to get 35 - 38ish, I have heard that the HDi gets less than citroen say - nearer 40 mpg, is this true? Also what extras do you get on the desire? Cheers Quote
tronboy Posted April 4, 2005 Posted April 4, 2005 35-38 ish is usually all I get. If I drive like a granny I get 40-45. :( Quote
StephenM Posted April 19, 2005 Author Posted April 19, 2005 To early to tell but looks good - 1.6 did 280 miles on its first tank with a tight engine, HDi looks to have got around 400 on its first tank! Quote
pork_pie Posted April 20, 2005 Posted April 20, 2005 400 miles? Not bad. Keep it steady until its first service at the earliest and check the oil levels. New oil burners have a large thirst for black gold. Despite what the experts say, it takes many miles to properly run in a diesel engine. Not 3000 miles ... more like 15,000 Quote
Oxymoron Posted May 9, 2005 Posted May 9, 2005 Hi, Diesel fuel seems to be getting more expensive round here!...Glad I chose petrol now!...Don't forget that the HDi has a larger tank than the petrol model too! Cheerz. :) Quote
tronboy Posted June 12, 2005 Posted June 12, 2005 Just managed to get a comfortable 608 miles from a tank (55 litres...) 49.8 mpg. (Whilst achieving this figure, the HDi Forte clocked over the 40,000 mile mark, and now is 'just run in' I think!) Admittedly I was driving sensibly to achieve this figure, but the mix of urban/motorway/exrta-urban was quite typical, as was aircon on/off and sunroof open/shut, which all makes a difference. The OEM Michelin Energy tyres are now replaced by Barum Bravuris which apparently have a higher rolling resistance, so possibly up to 5% better than this is possible with the right rubber. Quote
