Dalecardiffman Posted December 30, 2007 Posted December 30, 2007 Hi there, Just bought a 54 plate c2 and went to Halfrauds to get it fitted which they done a good job of. Once home switched off ignition and cd player stayed on so i turned it off and removed the face-off. After about an hour I went to unlock the car but the central locking wouldn't work. Took the car back to Halfords and the thought it could be a Head Unit fault and swapped it over. The car has been back to Halfrauds about 9 or 10 times now and I still have the same problem. The only suggestion Halfrauds can give me is to remove the adaptors fron the back of the head unit each time i've finished using it. Somebody please help as this is a stupid suggestion. Quote
kfk Posted December 30, 2007 Posted December 30, 2007 The reason its doing this is because it hasnt been installed correctly.....nothing to do with the head unit.....i would ask your local citroen dealer how much to install it correctly and then ask halfords if they would be prepared to accept the charges Quote

Guest Alex Swift Posted January 20, 2008 Posted January 20, 2008 Your problem is the monkey at Halfords has wired your radio to a perm live to get around fitting a CANBUS / VANBUS adapter, every Citroen post 2001 has this system that allows the car to communicate over the same wire from fuel sensor, headlights, horn to radio and does this by using a pulse so if you plugged in a normal radio with out an adapter you will get these problems. If you are near west London pop down and see Car Audio Security they have 3 C2's as demo cars and know this little ba****d well. http://www.nexxia.co.uk/what_you_need.htm these guys are a source of good sound (not a pun) advice. Thanks Alex Quote

I have a C3 and wanted to have MP3 and/or iPod possibilities, none of which are possible in the standard sound system. I went to Halfords and had a Sony unit fitted. All seemed fine, I made some sound settings and tuned some radio stations. The next time I came back to the car I was unable to open it without using the key, central locking was not working..... interesting I thought, also notices the Sony had defaulted to factory settings, all my EQ and radio settings all gone. I took it to the local Citroen dealer who announced the original stereo would have to be refitted and decoded!!!!! They did that at a £40 cost and off I trotted, did all the settings. Well arrived back at the car to find it was the same as before, no central locking and all the settings back to default, so back to the Citroen dealer who informed me that only a certain number of systems would work, although they had no idea which systems might or might not work. I gave in at that point and had the original system put back in. A couple of weeks later I found out that as the in car system had the possibility of a CD changer, it is possible to buy a small box and cable that attaches to an iPod and that is fed into the CD changer input, fools the system into thinking a CD changer is attached, works great and I can still use the controls on the steering wheel That might be a solution for you, unless you are looking for a more powerful sub bass world with a boot full of amps Quote
Karl M Posted February 26, 2008 Posted February 26, 2008 Hi I bought my C2 in November and wanted a new CD Player installed. When I went to Halfords they told me that due to some of the electrics being fed through the stereo or something like that it was not a good idea to fit the new stereo due to it may affect the central locking and speedo etc. I was glad of the advice given, too be honest and walked away with my money intact! Hope you manage to get it sorted. Quote
