Having had this car for just about 3 weeks now it seems I find a new fault every time I drive it. Todays was an Air Bag Fault warning and the service light is now on.

Is it possible to clear the service light without resetting the service interval counter? I dont want to take it to a garage just yet as I would rather clear the fault warning and see if it happens again before paying for it to be looked at.

Is there any way I can tell which airbag the fault is refering to?

Thanks

You will need to get the fault code read before it is cleared.

Airbag fault lights can be caused by a COM 2000 problem. It's the control unit for the column stalks and steering stuff. If that's the case it's the driver's airbag it refers to, but it the airbag is not faulty, the COM 2000 unit is.

Well i have cleared the service light for now by resetting the service interval, I ran the car to work and back today with no re ocurence of the airbag fault so I will see how it goes. ~If it comes back I will get it checked out. Anyone know how much a COM2000 costs out of interest?

Somewhere in the region of 300 notes.

I could sell you a second hand one, but it also has the airbag faulty problem on it. :(

Wow £300 - Im starting to realise why these cars or so cheap to buy. That along with my DPF / Eloys and the other bit I need is gonna be about a grand! Trade in is looking more attractive by the day. Still no sign of the airbag fault coming back today though so fingers crossed it was something triggered by the flat battery I had.
