I've got a 2006 2.0 HDi Estate . When parked overnight the rear suspension sinks right down while the front stays up . I'm sure the rear is sinking lower recently. It pumps up OK when you unlock the car/open the door

My question is - is this normal , if not , is it harmful and does it need looking at?

Suspension fluid is topped up

Thanks

this is a really common problem

its one of 2 things either a leak in your suspension pipe (if you see oil on the floor - you have a leak) OR more likley you need a new height sensor they cost £25.34 ISH inc vat and if your a competant DIY=er you can fit it yourself or get citroen to do it for you

if its a 2006 it is still under Citroen's 3 year warrenty mate just book it in and let them sort it out - providing your car hasnt done more than 60k miles

Thanks

I'm trying to avoid garages even though it's a lease car . I've been told there's a rod that sticks and just needs freeing .I'll have a look underneath at the weekend, otherwise I will take it in as it looks silly nose -up , tail down

my 03 plate hdi estate has just started doing this does,nt bother me to much as it pumps back up after you open the car mine go,s down after about 3-4hours but no fluid loss one thing i did wonder

could it not be the anti sink valve or would the front and back sink if this was faulty

Aftre saying they couldn't find anything wrong ,. the garage say thay have spoken to Citroen and diagnosed a defective rear suspension strut

They were told to undo the fluid return pipes , on one side the fluid dribbled out and on the other it gushed out and was apparently returning to the tank , hence no visible leak

Hopefully I'll collect it tomorrow and all will be OK

A warranty job , thankfully

I have just registered with the Owners Club in the hope of finding a solution to the same problem you so well describe. Car drives fine and lifts from low-loading level as doors are opened. I was beginning to wonder where to start. So thank you - as Citroen garage said there was nothing wrong, i.e. when they put the diagnostics on it it said it was fine - so it must be of course - then it was "we must have the car for 2 days to check it out mechanically". No chance! Thanks once again.
