dpagett Posted January 24, 2008 Posted January 24, 2008 The fan inside the car has stopped working, I got in a couple of days ago and had no fan so I could not clear the windscreen or warm the interior up at all!Has anyone had a similar experience? Sometines the control indicates the power of the fan is changing and other times it seems to freeze? Any help would be apreciated.Regards, Dave I checked all the fuses today and disconnected the battery for 15 minutes and this made no difference... Anyone have any other ideas? Dave Quote

techbod Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 just one question, when you say fans stopped you mean inside cabin fans and not the engine cooler fan, inside blower has a resistor and when it goes you can only get windshield/windscreen demister to work at full speed if so the resistor/fan variation is shot ( very common fault ) and mostly put down to relays but not the case, full speed working only then the resistor has packed in and data provided when ( tomorrow ) :D Quote

techbod Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 sods law is correct and chances are it down to poor connections ( remember the age of the car ) electrical things expand due to heat and that's where the connection is lost because the part fitted isn't designed to compensate, bloody complicated if you ask me but im on top of it :D Quote

HiDid you have any luck getting your heater fixed?I have a 53 plate C8 2.2HDI excl and I am expereincing exactly the same problems. Namely, intermittent heater blower constantly going on and off, with no ability to control, and heater display that has frozen and no longer displays anything.Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Hi,I had the same sort of problem. The main interior fan would not work but the rear fans would run for a few seconds then turn off.after a scary drive to work with a frozen windscreen I decided to have a look. The interior fan is behind the glovebox. I removed the glovebox and located the fan.I removed the fan and dis-assembled it. Connecter the fan to 12v and it worked.I cleaned the contacts and retried it. It worked. I put it back together, two weeks later the fan stopped again. This time I soldered the cables to the fan.The fan has been alright for the last few monthsro88o Quote
