Guest MartinBall Posted January 24, 2008 Posted January 24, 2008 Hi, just bought a C3 1.4 SX - need to get a couple of spare keys cut, am I right in saying that it is a dealer only part? A couple of locksmiths have told me that its Encrypted to the ignition and that every time you start the car it changes the code? Also, if it is a Dealer only part, any idea on how much? Cheers! ellerelle Posted February 5, 2008 Posted February 5, 2008 dont know if it aplies to you, coz dont know how old your car is or how far back this system goes, but when I got my car brand new I was given a card and told to keep it safe coz if I ever needed a new key they would need that card for the code. "A confidential card is given to the new owner when he takes delivery of his new vehicle. this card bears a hidden access code for the use of the citroen dealer when servicing the electronic immobiliser device. If any key modifications become neccessary (addition, cancellation or replacement of the key) it is essential to take the confidential card together with all the keys to a citroen dealer" sorry cant be much more help than that Quote

Cheers!Yeah, best bet is to take it to your local dealer. You should have got a small credit sized grey card along with the manual etc... This has a scratch off strip that the dealer uses as it has a code inside, which they check to match to your car, Citroen's database etc etc to ensure everything's legite... Not sure about a price... You can buy the actual key for around £5.00 on eBay but I've no idea how much the delaer will charge for encrypting it etc. Jamie Quote
Johndouglas Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 In addition to the code card, you also need the key number. Then a dealer can order the correct key which he then encrypts to your car. You'll be looking at parting with somewhere around a 100quid. Quote
stimulator Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 Worry not if you don't have the key code card. A dealer will be able to look up the info on the in house computre, however they may charge for this where as having the card they don't. Quote
raveydavey Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 Lots of cobblers and key cutters (Mr Minute, Timpsons, etc) advertise that they now can provide transponder equipped keys, although I don't know how accurate these claims are. Quote
