Guest camper Posted February 3, 2008 Posted February 3, 2008 I have a2001 C5 HDI 2ltr 110bhp engine Borsch injection, I am buying bio diesel production unit the uvo will end up 99% pure. Is anyone running this engine on bio (not untreted cooking oil), at what ratio?, for somer and winter and what milage have you done. Quote
old'uns Posted February 5, 2008 Posted February 5, 2008 not me personally neither anyone who runs a car on it but...one of my customers runs approx 15 tractor units, just bought 1000L to try, mixing with existing fuel, first week 2 breakdowns!both appear to be probs with viscosity of fuel ie too thick causing plastic fuel pipes to collapse as the pumps struggle to suck fuel through. do cars push fuel ie pump in tank? maybe not an issue? Guest camper Posted February 5, 2008 Posted February 5, 2008 Hi Old unsThe pump is in the tank I believe, the fuel scavenges the tank and pipes so after the first two tanks full you need to change the filters. And the Borsch injection is said to be OK because its got synthetic seals, this as far as Iv got with information myth or fact ?. Thank you for your reply Quote

If you Google for it on Newsgroups and the web there is a lot of info about the ratio PSA Peugeot Citroën have been running their diesels on. They have tried ratios up to 50:50. However they have a factory full of replacement injector pumps and injectors if it all goes pear shaped. If I was going to experiment with Bio I would try it first on an XU diesel. Just a hunch. myglaren Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 I ran mine on Biodiesel* for about six months (recovered chipfat) and it was fine. Same performance and mileage as dinodiesel but >10p per Litre less (tracks standard diesel prices) production halted just before Christmas as the manager left but I should be going back to it soon. *my spellchecker wants me to change this to Budweiser. Not such a good idea, under the circumstances:) Quote
