Regard hope you can help I am experiencing the same issue too...mine seem to come about a week or so after having my Citroen CD player fitted. The radio specialist didn't touch the ECU to allow it to work correctly so I don't think it is related. Also it was happening every time I started the car, unless I opened the boot prior, but over the past week it is now only happening every now and again...which doesn't make diagnostic any easier... If anyone knows of a fix then please inform us...failing that I will take it to an electrical specialist to see if it is a wiring fault of some kind... Thanks for reading and for any help you can give Quote

Guest ian collis Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 i've been having the same problem  i press the door unlock only on the fob and the boot opens and also when putting the keys into to start it the boot opens up. i re-newed my battery in the keyfob then re-programed it to the car, works fine now boot never opens. ian  Quote

techbod Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 sounds more like an immobilizer or ignition problem to me or simply the ignition black box on the rear is shot ( ignition switch its called ) and Audi are famous for it lol its cheap plastic and it failes Quote

The other possibility is the tailgate open switch is sticking. Quote
techbod Posted August 21, 2008 Posted August 21, 2008 its happening with both fobs when they are put into the ignition? that rules out the fobs, it only happens when you insert the key and that's chipped which is the immobilizer so the problem has to be related to the ignition switch which is causing the fobs to short and act funny, just a guess :) Quote

techbod Posted August 21, 2008 Posted August 21, 2008 read between the lines and expand your mind, the issue only happens when you insert the ignition key Quote
wheeler_cit Posted August 21, 2008 Posted August 21, 2008 read between the lines and expand your mind, the issue only happens when you insert the ignition keyso you reckon that the ignition switch has a wire coming out the back of it that directly connects to the tailgate solenoid & under normal operation this wire is never fed by the ignition switch but when the switch goes faulty it starts to feed the wire to the tailgate solenoid when the ignition is switched on ? Quote
techbod Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 lets try to put it another way ( what happens when you join the poles on the battery ) ill call it a bang/short the battery is part of all the electrics, so if you had a short or bad ignition switch ( that the black box on the rear of the ignition switch )http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=htt...=/images%3Fq%3D ignition%2 switch%26gbv%3D2%26hl%3Den ill leave it to your imagination to guess what happens http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=htt...v%3D2%26hl%3Den as you say it only happens when you put the ignition key in so I can only guide you from what you tell me Quote
