Guest Xantia_Dude Posted June 21, 2008 Posted June 21, 2008 hello, can any body help, i have a xantia that sits a bit low on the rear, it never bottems even with three biguns in the back and goes up and down ok. just would like it to ride a bit higher. many thanks geof. Hi there Have you checked the ride height against the spec for the car? If the car rides too high, it can damage the suspension components. From memory, i think the top of our wheel arch used to sit about an inch or two above the top of the wheel. That was after a specialist did work on our back suspension so must have been ok. However, the reason we had our back suspension sorted was because this particular part which i cant remember the name of needed replacing. It was basically a big bolt that the suspenson pivots on i think and the rollers in the bearing squash and breash up and therefore the part has to be replaced as it prevent the suspension rising completely. There are a couple of tell tale signs of this which are a clunk when the suspension goes up and down, but also when looking at the car from behind, the wheels will flare out at the bottom if there is a problem. Another thing that the guy checked on ours was the height corrector at the the back. Ive never seen this part, but it might be worth checkin it out on yours as it can "pop off " or something. Hope some of that is of use to you! Quote
Johndouglas Posted June 21, 2008 Posted June 21, 2008 For your Xantia to be at the correct 'normal' height measurements are these:-Front - from the underside of the subframe to the ground - 156+7/-7mm.Rear - from the chasis pad above the sphere to the ground 420+7/-7mm.A rough guide at the rear - the highest point of the wheel arch should just about be in line with the tread of the tyre.
