Guest Ray Posted February 25, 2008 Posted February 25, 2008 Hi all ... I keep getting the same fault come up on my 2.2 Hdi auto , the ESP light, engine management and service light comes on and then the usual ESP/APR or something like inoperative, then Anti-Pollution warning .The ESP light goes out after a re-start and the service and engine manafement light goes after a couple of days. All this comes back usually a day or so later again !! I had a guy with the hand held computer read the fautl codes and they were P2299 and P0234 .One is to do with Boost and the other he was brake/throttle setting ???? Has anyone had the same problem or does anyone know what these codes are or could something else be causing the problem ?? Thanks Rob Quote
iannez Posted February 25, 2008 Posted February 25, 2008 i have had these faults when the alternators start playing up. the alternator stops charging so the car uses the battery instead and it begins to drain. once it reaches 10v the ecu's on the various components you listed stop working and the warning signs appear. smell the alternator for burning and set up a multi meter in the car so when this happens you can check the charging voltage. the battery does not need to go flat. a good battery can be pulled down to 10v and return to 12+v when the load is removed. Guest Ray Posted February 25, 2008 Posted February 25, 2008 Hi ...Thanks for your comments ,but most of the time the ESP light comes around ( 55/60 mph) , its never come on at a speed lower than that ..Is it possible the alternator can create this problem even at speed ? Cheers Rob Quote
72dudes Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 Loads of other posts on this one Ray, try a search. Fairly common fault but very difficult to pinpoint. As well as iannez's suggestion, could be egr valve or sooted up/blocked pipe connecting it. I also had this fault 18 months ago and it was turbo pressure switch. For a quick fix to clear the warning lights (but not the fault), turn off, wait 90 seconds, turn on/start engine, repeat 5 times, hey presto! Quote
Guest Ray Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 Cheers 72 Dude for your input mate , and thanks to everyone who helps out ! ..These cars are so comfortable , smooth , but so complicated !! and a nightmare to find the right fault as I`m told that these lights get thrown up a lot but are not always the reason why ! , that don`t make sence to me ...Anyway I`ll continue to try and get to the bottom of this problem and if I`m lucky I`ll post the cause ... Cheers guys Quote
