dmcclymont Posted March 9, 2008 Posted March 9, 2008 Hello, I currently run a Renault Laguna 1.9TDi and I am having the following challenges shall we say: Something is wrong with the injectors, and I am told I cannot (should not) blend nice-n-cheap veg oil in with the diesel without a conversion costing £ 1,200.00! My good old ZX (250K miles, no major failures), used to eat rather a good amount of Veg oil and never once complained. The Xsara 1.9TD, is this still the ZX engine, does anyone on here use a mixture in them? I am keen to find out before I purchase. Are they as reliable as the ZX was, frankly the Renault is starting to cost me money and it will almost 100K short of the final ZX value (it was sold as a going concern, prob still working!) :-) Quote
Guest Terryd Posted April 22, 2008 Posted April 22, 2008 Veg oil tends to require more frequent fuel filter nchanges and can be a problem in winter. This is sometimes overcome by a small addition of petrol. There should be a number of threads on the web on this. The XUD engines seem to okay but it is dependent on the make of injector pump. Check out this link:http://www.vegetableoildiesel.co.uk/fuelsd...abase/index.php The modern TDi and HDi engines don't like it as the electronic sensors used for engine management get confused. Hope this helps Quote
Johndouglas Posted May 6, 2008 Posted May 6, 2008 If you want to run on veggie oil, don't get an XUD fitted with a Bosch pump. The seals will quickly harden and leaks will develop. Quote
