Hi Jimmy!

Yeah! My Picasso is the same! Serious Pain in the arse! I am told by my local dealership (Who sold me the car) that it is a function on the car's computer that they can hack into and change, on the Xsara picasso anyway. On the later C4 Picasso, and other cars, they can't. I imagine the Dispatch systems would be similar to the picasso as they're basically made from the same bits. You could ask your local dealer if they can give you more time before the dreaded "Economy mode activated" comes on.

I'm not sure if the system can be by-passed in any way. I had thought of maybe using a separate 12v supply from a small re-chargeable battery pack which could be charged when the vehicle was running, a bit like a caravan battery, but I doubt if the effort invloved would be worth it.

Basically the whole idea of saving power by turning off the radio is utterly ludicrous, seeing as how you have to use much more power to start the engine up before the bloody thing will play again! Not to mention the fuel that's wasted!

Let me know how you get on. I think this is one of Citroens Daftest ideas to date and the guy who thought it up should face the Guillotine!

Cheers. Hope this helps!

I have recently purchased a motorhome on the 2 ltr. dispatch.

The economy mode is a pain for a passenger left in the vehicle and cannot operate the windows up or down, or listen to the radio.

I can see that some owners of other Citroens have had the mode altered to much longer periods.

My local dealer said it can't be done on the Dispatch

Does anyone know otherwise?

How old is the dispatch?

To my knowledge the time duration of economy mode on late Dispatch III vans cant be modified.

the only way round this would be to get the radio rewired to have a constant power feed.....and remember to turn it off!

Thanks for your reply.this confirms what the dealer said.

My wife will have to sit with the windows closed and use the door for ventilation.

I can lock her in for safety.

I will have to rewire the radio mainly for use in the evening.

It's a bad feature for private users and passengers do not know how to start the engine.

Perhaps when more are used for motorhomes, Citroen will allow modification.
