Guest zara Posted April 7, 2008 Posted April 7, 2008 Hello,i have a Citroen Xsara Picasso 54 plate.Having problems....when the car has been running and i stop with engine idling for 5 mins, i get a bleeping noise with engine overheating stop message on the dash, the temp bar goes up, fan cuts in, temp bar goes back down and the cycle keeps happening. When the car is on motorway no problem.Went to citroen dealer they diagnosed coolant temp sensor as problem, the problem did not go away, next day they diagnosed the water pump, problem did not go away.I was loosing water also which citroen first diagnosed possible head gasket but this has been tested and is OK, went to a reliable mechanic and he has advised i have a very small leak at water pipe housing at rear of engine, this may or may not be the reason for the engine overheat message.I am now having to get a mobile electronic tester to check the ECU.So far i have changed...Thermostatwater pumpcam beltcoolant temp sensoroil changechanged oil and cam belt because this needed changing anyway. Has anyone experienced these problems? this should help anyone that has!!changing the seal this week and having electric diagnostic test after!!One thing to mention - CITROEN DEALERS/WASTE OF SPACE!! Johndouglas Posted April 7, 2008 Posted April 7, 2008 We had the very same problem on daughter's Xsara. First a beep, followed by stop sign, then back to normal. I changed the temperature sensor and it's been fine since. Not much help to you though. Quote

Johndouglas Posted April 8, 2008 Posted April 8, 2008 Out of interest which sensor? It's fitted in the end of the cylinder head. Partly under the air cleaner. Twin wire coming away from it. Quote
