Guest Saxodaddy Posted April 12, 2008 Posted April 12, 2008 I have a citroen Saxo 1.0 celebration 2000 (W reg) I have fitted a West Falia swan neck towbar which I fitted fairly easily. How do I find the main wiring loom so i can join onto it. It seams it may be split from left to right in the head lining or somewhere else. I can't find a convenient place to connect the 7 core or the audiable relay. The seven core wire is only about 1 meter long I hope It reaches the the loom before it splits to the left and the right. The wiring instructions say most cars looms come down one side but which side left or right? Can any one help? Quote
Johndouglas Posted April 12, 2008 Posted April 12, 2008 Bring the seven core cable through the floor and into the boot. Separate the wires, connect the white to a good earth point, take the yellow and the black to the nearside and the others to the off side. Locate the n/s indicator and connect the yellow wire to the indicator lead. The black wire goes to the n/s side light. The green wire goes to the o/s indicator, the brown wire to the o/s side light and the red wire to the brake light. The blue goes to the fog light. All the connections can be done with Scotchlocs. You also need a wire from each indicator to a buzzer. You may also have a plug connector in the boot. In which case a Citroen dealer can sell you a plugin towing loom. Had your Saxo been fitted with multiplexed wiring, it would have been safer to put all the connections through a seven way bypass relay. Quote

Thanks for taking the time to answering my question so comprehensively, this will most certainly solve the problem. I didn't think to split the cable to left & right. I assumed you would have to take the cable to the loom before the loom splits. Thanks Quote

The bit that solved the problem was; I didn't think to split the cable from the tow electrics. I assumed you had to take the wire to the Loom. Can you tell me though how I fit the audiable unit as the wires are only about four inches long and obviously will not reach the left side and the right i don't think extending them is the way forward. The instructions say to install it on one side. If so how does the audiable unit know when the indicator on the other side is on? I am sure you just install it on one side of the car, if yoiu know what I mean. Cheers for your input and i did find it funny. LOL Marc Any help would be apreciated. Quote
Jonno Posted April 13, 2008 Posted April 13, 2008 How many wire audible unit is it? If I remember right (if its a five wire jobbie) two of the wires connect to the 7 core cable (can be done by scotchlocks) to the yellow and the green wires, the white wire from the audible unit would be an earth. If its done at the rear quarter panel area where the cable enters the vehicle it can be kept fairly neat and tidy. The other two wires from the unit, green/white & yellow/white connect to the vehicles indicator circuits - right and left respectively.Hope that helps a little. If you google audible trailer indicator there will probably be a number of different sites that will offer a more comprehensive answer than I can give you. Take care mate. Quote

Johndouglas Posted August 30, 2008 Posted August 30, 2008 If your flasher unit has 5 wires coming from it, White goes to an earth, Green/white goes to the RH flasher unit, Yellow/white goes to LH flasher unit, Green goes to the 7core green, and yellow to 7 core yellow. Quote
